Installation Painting: Enhancing the visual aesthetic of painting through the exploration of the frame and light. Installation Painting is a series of eight painting inspired by Formalist values and grounded in ideologies of the spiritual and non-objective in painting.
The development of the self-illuminating frame, combining philosophies of light and framing, aims to locate Installation Painting within the context of contemporary non-objective painting. It also aims to highlight new uses for the frame within the gallery environment together with the enhancement of the visual and spiritual experience of the viewer with the reduction of external anomalies.
Installation Painting explores smart technologies through the application of heat sensitive paint to manipulate colour on canvas, thus enhancing the visual engagement between light, paint and the spectator. The positive enhancement of experience is aided through mindfulness and deep listening prior to viewing Installation Painting.
The exhibition also features the first accompanying manifesto on Installation Painting.
