I must have seen a few films here in my yoof but its been derelict for a long long time as you can tell by the picture. Now they’ve replaced the doors with a solid glass panel so you can see the dilapidated gloomy foyer while some shots from various surveillance cameras around the building are screened onto the glass. There are also occasional short performances shown on the screen, the final one scheduled for Friday 15th Oct. after which it will close down again.
The artist Peter McCaughey says he’s interested in sites that are ,to quote Kerry Brougher, “not empty but filled with absence” – nice one. Link
