An evening for art lovers to support Alder Hey Imagine Appeal
Art lovers in Liverpool can treat themselves to an evening of art indulgence at the forthcoming ‘Imagine on Canvas’ event which supports Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. The inaugural event will be held on
Monday 2nd November 2009, 16.00 – 19.30 at FACT
and is free to attend with a free welcome drink on arrival.
Eminent North-West artists including Elaine Preece Stanley, Francis Timmons and Edward Timmons have donated 80 exclusive pieces of art from their own collections to be sold at Imagine on Canvas and 100% of the money raised will go to help the work of the world famous children’s hospital.
Elaine, who wanted to help the hospital as her young daughter Grace is an inpatient on the hospital’s cancer ward said,
“Our daughter, Grace, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in January 2009. This news was devastating; to be told that your child has cancer, it was news that was to turn our world upside down, our emotions went into overdrive and we stepped into a new world of the unknown.
As an artist, I naturally wanted to give something back to thank everybody at the Oncology ward for everything they have done and will do throughout my life.”
This will be the Imagine Appeal’s first ever art benefit but organisers are hoping for a great turn out from the public, as there is such a broad range of art, they feel there is something for everyone. The collective donations include paintings of famous Liverpool landmarks, jazz musicians such as Nina Simone and Billy Holiday as well as sketches of the Tower bridge of London and the Manchester Ship Canal.
Spokesperson Chris Done, from Alder Hey Imagine Appeal said,
“We are delighted that such fantastic artists have decided to support our hospital in such a personal way. We want to invite the public and local businesses to Imagine on Canvas and give them the chance to go home with a spectacular piece of original art and of course the timing couldn’t be better to buy a loved one a unique Christmas gift while supporting children in hospital.”
