If you have walked along Bold Street recently you will, hopefully, have noticed all the colourful drawings on the shop windows, much nicer than all those ‘sale’ posters.
Flowers for Bold Street: FACT helps celebrate Liverpool’s well-loved street FACT is delighted that during the new Abandon Normal Devices festival (Sep 23 to 25), its neighbours on Bold Street are gathering together to celebrate the wealth of activity on this well-loved street.
Artist Nina Edge, who is based at FACT as part of the Cultural Leadership Programme, transformed the FACT café
over the summer by drawing giant flowers on its huge windows. Nina is now extending the drawings to any Bold Street traders who would like their windows to become a temporary artwork.
Edge says:
‘This is an inspiring way to bring FACT closer to its neighbours and to use culture to support trade in a difficult economic environment. AND festival is linking up with Bold Street Festival to promote the unique cultural offer in the Ropewalks area ”
The following Bold Street shops and cafes have already received artworks in their windows: Utility, Zen, Coffee Union, Voodou, Red Lotus, Smiffys and Take 2. Call Nina Edge at FACT if you are a Bold Street business and would like to receive a free drawing. Tel 0151 707 4410
The AND festival is 23rd to 27th September 2009 and the Bold Street Festival on Saturday 26th September.
