Design Festival – Adopt A Lamp For the Long Night

ADOPT A LAMP DURING THE LONG NIGHT

Banish the winter darkness with a free beautiful designer lamp made by local designer Matthew Moore.

To mark the start of the Liverpool Design Festival and coinciding with Liverpool’s Long Night event there will be a colourful and unique installation of Matthew’s Origami lamps in the window of the stylish Hope Street Hotel in the city centre.

At 4pm just as the darkness gathers on Thursday 18th Matthew’s quirky and ingenious designer lamps will be switched on to brighten up everyone’s journey home along Hope Street. To adopt a lamp simply go into the Hope Street Hotel and leave your details at any time throughout the Liverpool Design Festival. At the end of the Festival on the 27th there will be a draw and the lucky winners of up to 40 lamps will be selected at random.

The Adopt A Lamp scheme is the first of a series of Liverpool Design Festival events.

Also at the Hope Street Hotel is an exhibition of illustrations by local artist Emily Lansley. Her work is inspired by nature, animals and Native American art and she has worked on videos with The Coral, Ian Brodie and the 747’s. Her exhibition is in the foyer and Book Room on the ground floor of the Hope Street Hotel and admission is free.

A number of businesses on Bold Street are also participating in the festival with an exhibition of typographical work by Eleanor Sugget in Bold Street Coffee, a display of iconic book cover design in News From Nowhere, and stunning colourful window vinyls by Matthew Thomas depicting exotic flowers in the windows of Matta’s and Brew.
