Jacob Aue Sobol – Sabine
Artist Talk – Friday 26 May 2006
In a rare UK appearance, Jacob Aue Sobol (winner of the 2006 World Press Photo Prize, in the category of Daily Life Stories) will be talking about the exhibition and other projects at Open Eye Gallery on Friday 26 May at 7pm. The talk will followed by an open, informal discussion.
‘Sabine’ has been described as “brilliant” by the British Journal of Photography – simultaneously a captivating love story and a fascinating insight into Inuit culture, Jacob’s spontaneous, elegant black and white images form a beautiful tribute to an unforgettable woman and an extreme, remote landscape. Open Eye Gallery (in collaboration with Redeye) is delighted to offer you this rare opportunity to view the exhibition and to engage with this exciting young photographer – find out more about Sabine and her world, Jacob’s experiences and inspirations, and his current work.
Advance booking is highly recommended – tickets are £5 (£4 concessions), and are available from Redeye on 0845 456 0260 or www.redeye.org.uk
A book is available to accompany the exhibition, and Open Eye Gallery is pleased to offer a 10% discount on all ‘Sabine’ book purchases made at the event.
‘Sabine’ is at Open Eye Gallery from 26 May to 15 July 2006 – we look forward to seeing you there
