Liverpool is not normally a place I associate with valleys, its too flat. But where there’s a river there’s a valley of sorts and the River Alt and Alt Brook takes in the North East part of Liverpool covering the wards of Fazakerley, Warbreck, County, Clubmoor, Croxteth and Norris Green.
So after venturing to the canals of Bootle a couple of weeks ago, this Saturday we’re off to see the Scarecrows of Fazakerley and a stroll along ‘the ralla’ (Why’s it called the ‘ralla’, anyone?)
SATURDAY 22 August 2009, 12 noon – 16.00
In January 2009, the Bluecoat joined forces with the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse theatres to create ART Valley, a unique project that works in partnership with Alt Valley Neighbourhood Management Services to creatively tackle the local neighbourhood agenda.
Join us for what will be a fantastic afternoon with something for everyone to take part in, showcasing some of the fantastic work that has gone on so far…..
We will not only have a Scarecrow trail taking you to parts of Alt Valley you may not have been to before, but will be also bringing to life a section of ‘the ralla’ (the Loopline) a disused railway track that runs through Liverpool.
You can download a map for details of where the fun will be happening from the Bluecoat’s website. Come rain or shine we will be there, along with storytellers, interactive outdoor computer games, a rickshaw, guerrilla gardening, making workshops, cycle maintenance….. just to name a few….
You will be able to catch the touring bus, that will take you to all the different Scarecrow locations, with the opportunity to stop for a cup of tea at some of the locations!
Join in the fun at Blackthorne Road L4, off Walton Hall Avenue, just next to Walton Sports Hall and the park.
This is not to be missed! (and you are encouraged to bring your bike!)
If you have any questions about the event, please do not hesitate to contact Annie on 07810 862 522 or email annie.m@thebluecoat.org.uk
