Liverpool artwork of the day – Monday July 9 2007. ‘Cave’ by Karen Gilbert
I don’t know how she does it but Karen creates some great textured effects with paints.
She says
“I explore paint as a modern medium searching and exploring modes of application and interpretation while still making reference to the long tradition of painting as Art and artefact.
I am intrigued by representation and application of meanings. My work is textural and tactile so that often it is mistaken as mixed media for example metallic paint looking like wire or in other paintings seen as an embroidery thread. This is an aspect of paint creating an illusion of reality, representation.
Most of all I like paint and its unending, unfathomable, complexity as a medium for Art. ”
