The Liverpool fireworks show in William Brown Street last night was excellent. A great start to 2007
Originally scheduled for 17.00 on December 31 2006 they were postponed because of the stormy weather.
The weather was perfect last night, there was a good crowd there but still room to move around.
I thought the light show projected onto the front of the Walker Art Gallery was actually better than the fireworks.
The show had a birthday theme as this is in effect the launch of Liverpool’s 800th anniversary year. The start button was pressed by a woman who is 80 years old this year and a boy who is 8 years old.
Various dates were projected and the music changed to suit the periods in history with the fireworks changing in perfect sync especially during Bjork’s ‘Its Oh So Quiet’. It closed after 20 minutes with the end of Sgt. Peppers.
