Liverpool 800: A New Study of the City’s Character, Culture and History.
Liverpool 800 is a project based in the School of History at the University of Liverpool which aims to write a substantial new scholarly, yet accessible, work outlining the history and development of the City of Liverpool.
Co-funded by the University of Liverpool and Liverpool City Council, the book’s publication will become a centrepiece of the Liverpool Year of Heritage celebrations in 2007. This date is of crucial significance as it marks the 800th anniversary of the granting of letters patent to the Steward of West Derby by King John – the charter which founded the Borough of Liverpool.
A Series Of Four ‘In Conversation’ Events
To celebrate the publication in September 2006 of Liverpool 800 – Culture, Character and History the University of Liverpool will be presenting four prestigious ‘in conversation’ events
Loyd Grosman, journalist, TV celebrity, chair of the board of Culture Northwest, vice-chair of the Liverpool Culture Company and chairman of National Museums Liverpool, will discuss a subject that is central to the ‘Culture, Character and History’ of Liverpool with a very special guest.
Each event will be free to attend and accompanied by the production of a high quality information sheet outlining some of the concepts, issues and controversies the evening’s conversation will roam over.
