Why do people keep sending me details of events for OLDER people and SINGLE people. Trying to tell me something? Sounds good this though not my cup-of-tea…
WE’LL MEET AGAIN…
* Glamorous silver screen event
* Fascinating life events recalled at big film party in Liverpool
OLDER people in Liverpool are getting together to view the silver screen in an evening of music and memories.
Taking place at the historic Liverpool Lighthouse, the former Breckfield Gaumont cinema, hundreds of people who remember the 1940s the first time round are set to watch films plus sing and dance the night away as part of the Kaleidoscope project.
Supported by the Liverpool Culture Company and the Liverpool Echo Sunrise Fund, guests will be dressed in 1940s or film star costume, eating traditional high tea with handmade cakes then having a good old-fashioned knees-up after enjoying a spot of 1940s comedy.
The Gaumont Memories extravaganza is part of the Kaleidoscope project, a creative heritage initiative engaging older people throughout Anfield and Breckfield.
Also attending is John Love, the former Gaumont cinema manager in 1956-1958 and several regular cinema goers.
The event will be hosted by Gerry Holsgrove of former London Palladium
compering fame.
