Ancient Egypt

Enter the world of Ancient Egypt and journey back to the age of the Pharaohs and pyramids at our exciting new gallery.

Darwin 200
Displays, performances and activities celebrating Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday and his groundbreaking scientific ideas. Follow the Darwin trail and even see the man himself from 27 June in Meet Charles Darwin our interactive show.

Refugee Week
15 – 21 June
Celebrates the positive contribution refugees and asylum seekers make to the UK. Check out our website for details of our events and activities.

Only a Game?
Until 26 April  
Only a Game? looks at Europe through the lens of football and is bursting with exciting objects. See shirts worn by legendary players, top European trophies and to see if you can top the league table in our football quiz.    

The Beat Goes On
Until 1 November
Our exhibition dedicated to 60 years of the city’s music shows why Liverpool deserves its name in lights. The Beat Goes On is a colourful, interactive exhibition that explores the energy, edginess and creativity that make Liverpool the capital of pop..

Free Planetarium
Travel to outer space without even leaving your chair in our incredible space and astronomy show for adults and children over five. Tickets available from 10am and up to five minutes before each performance from the welcome desk.

   Sat & Sun     2.15, 3.15 & 4.05pm

Treasure House Theatre
We’ve got a packed programme of free events in our 80-seat theatre. Pick up a ticket from the welcome desk. Our 09 programme includes:
Death on the Nile
Two bungling robbers have sneaked in to the museum, but they get more than they bargained for, when one of them opens an ancient scroll. (over 5’s)

World on film
Catch one of our 20-minute films and travel to Ancient Egypt or discover the story of the Saxons, Vikings, and Romans in Britain. (over 5’s)

Food for thought
Visit our Time Travel café where our intrepid chef and waiter will take you on a journey through the history of food. (over 5’s)

Molly the friendly blue whale
Join Rosie or Captain Undersea in this tall tale of a brave whale that escapes a cruel captain (boo), and saves her friends in a storm (hooray). (under 5’s)

Examine the armour of a Samurai warrior in this demonstration using replica 16th century armour. (Everyone)
