Artist Trevor Morgan Selected for Residency Programme
Liverpool Biennial have announced the selection of Trevor Morgan as the first artist-in-residence in Liverpool supported by the Australia Council for the Arts.
Liverpool is one of 10 cities worldwide to host an Australia Council for the Arts International Residency, the other cities being Barcelona, Berlin, London, New York, Paris, Rome, Helsinki and Tokyo.
The 3-month residency is hosted by Liverpool Biennial and includes a studio based at Static Trading. The artists will work alongside Liverpool Biennial’s programme of art commissions in the city.
Trevor Morgan uses video and photography to explore the concepts of home, dislocation and body spatiality as he journeys through urban spaces. He has developed a unique ‘Personal Documentation Unit’ (PDU) that comprises five small CCTV cameras sown into a hat, that function as a 360° memory capture device.
During his time in Liverpool he will use this technology to explore different neighbourhoods and central gathering points in the city to produce 2-D and 3-D video models.
