The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair has been set up to showcase both emerging and established craft makers and designers in the North West. The first ever show takes place at The Manchester Grammar School from October 23-26.
Designer Thomas Heatherwick, who designed the B of the Bang sculpture next to the City of Manchester stadium, which is the inspiration for the Great Northern logo, has kindly agreed to open the show.
“Manchester and the North are full of artists, designers and craft makers with huge creativity and masses of talent. We are so glad to be giving these talented artists and designers a platform to showcase their work, and introduce people to contemporary craft.”
The show has 130 quality exhibitors, chosen from more than 300, selected by an eminent panel of makers comprising: craft curator James Beighton; jewellery curator Jo Bloxham; gallery owner Jemila Topalian; craft programme manager Kelda Savage and Professor Steve Dixon, world renowned ceramicist and head of contemporary craft at Manchester Metropolitan University.
