‘The Folks Fest’ at Wavertree Playground April 20-22

‘THE FOLKS FEST’ UK TOUR BEGINS IN LIVERPOOL – 20TH – 22ND APRIL 2007, WAVERTREE PLAYGROUND, LIVERPOOL:

UPDATE: Apparently the launch Yesterday didn’t happen as equipment hadn’t arrived from Germany in time but it should still be going ahead today (Saturday)

Triebwerk Events launch the UK’s first ‘Folk Fest’ on Friday April 20th through to Sunday 22nd April at the Wavertree Playground, Liverpool. 25 other regional locations around the country will follow over the summer months, making the ‘Folks Fest’ the biggest German lifestyle event of its kind to travel the UK. An array of market stalls, live music and craftwork on display will keep the masses entertained throughout the tour, the aim being to bring a unique taste of German lifestyle and culture to the UK!

Is it time for us in the UK to start to enjoy our summers in a different style? While we’re fussing around our BBQs and setting up paddling pools, across the water in Germany they really know how to utilise the summer months. A firm focus is placed on having fun, enjoying local produce and being entertained! The idea has been created and championed by Ingo Aicher and Mike Dunne, who have masterminded ‘The Folks Fest’ concept from the early stages and are about to set it on a full 25 date UK jaunt.

“One thing that hasn’t materialised in the UK is a way to get the German Festival experience. Over the water we’re lucky enough to have events like this regularly and they’ve always been part of our popular culture. Seeing how many brits experienced the high-points of German lifestyle in 2006 during the World Cup, I decided it was imperative this was brought to the UK and thus sees the launch of Folk Fest 2007!
