The Capstone Theatre set to experience The Smell of Envy

Manchester and Leeds based Theatre Company Pigeon Theatre are bringing their unique brand of experimental, innovative and interactive performance style to Liverpool’s Capstone Theatre on Wednesday 24 April with their latest piece The Smell of Envy.

As a collaboration between Pigeon Theatre and cognitive neuroscientist Dr Colin Lever and a celebration and interrogation of the workings of the nose and the brain, The Smell of Envy is a lecture and theatre performance for those who love the smell of yesterday.

The show uses a company of older actors and their memories and is part cookery demonstration, part science experiment, part neuroscience lecture (for beginners!) and part smell laboratory. Using a smell-scape of familiar and unfamiliar smells, this is a show about love, death, nostalgia, ageing, desire, loathing and envy.

Pigeon Theatre use nontraditional spaces and unconventional social arrangements to create shared intimacies between them and their audience. They have been making and touring innovative theatre since 2001. The Smell of Envy is an outcome of the Wellcome Trust-funded project Site and Smell and supported by the University of Leeds and hÅb & Word of Warning.
