Plans of the new centre and museum dedicated to transatlantic slavery go on show
To enable Phase Two of the project National Museums Liverpool is negotiating to acquire the former Dock Traffic Office, which adjoins the Maritime Museum and which is currently occupied by ITV Granada. National Museums Liverpool plans to link the two buildings and Austin:Smith-Lord has been appointed as architect for the project. Plans for the new link will be on display at the Maritime Museum from 5-31 October.
It is planned that the Museum will open in 2007, the year of the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the British slave trade and Liverpool’s 800th birthday. The Centre will open in 2009
