SIR PETER BLAKE VISITS BEATLES INSPIRED HOTEL
The godfather of British pop art, Sir Peter Blake visited Liverpool’s Hard Days Night Hotel on Friday to be the first person to order from the hotel’s new June menu in the restaurant named after him.
Sir Peter Blake, famed for his iconic design of the sleeve cover for the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band, sampled the new menu at Blake’s Restaurant, which will run until September.
Blakes, which was named after him and opened to great acclaim in 2008, has Sir Peter’s artwork adorning the walls, the menu and restaurant frontage, and was entered into the Good Food Guide in 2009 as the best restaurant in Liverpool city centre.
The Summer a la carte menu, specially created by Head Chef Andrew Scott, will feature a special 28 day dry aged ‘Sgt. Peppered Steak’ in either 8oz ribeye or sirloin in recognition of Sir Peter’s visit, served with hand cut chips, fresh watercress and grilled mushroom and tomato.
General manager Mike Dewey says, “This is such an honour for Blakes and the Hard Days Night Hotel. Sir Peter’s name is synonymous with The Beatles and to have him be the first to dine from the new summer menu is a privilege. We were delighted to welcome back both Peter and his wife Chrissy, and sincerely hope they enjoyed their meal with us during their visit to Liverpool.”
