2 – 7 August 2009 (Free entry)

The Way We Are exhibition is the curatorial debut of Anna F.C Smith and is the flagship exhibition of North By North Western Arts Festival. The show uses the museum format to stand back and understand elements of who we are today. Its narrative then breaks down, questioning whether we can fully be aware of ourselves in the present, and attempts to discover if there really can be truth in the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves.

The exhibition mixes local, national and international artists, some emerging and some well established. It also features a new work by London based artist, Manuel Saiz who’s recent shows and projects include ‘Talk Show’ at the ICA and ‘Art Summer University’ at the Tate Modern.

Venue:
Unit 15/16 Eckersley Mill
Swan Meadow Industrial Estate,
Swan Meadow Rd, Wigan WN3 5BJ
