A new gallery is set to open in Kirkby, Knowsley, following an agreement between KUC (Kirkby Unemployment Centre) and the Capitalists of Culture Ltd.
The gallery will be open to the public and based in the purpose designed venue at the KUC centre on Westhead Avenue, providing 32 metres of open wall space as well as the opportunity to display sculptured works.
The Capitalists of Culture our now looking for artists from the local community and surrounding arrears to adorn the walls of what is set to be a exciting and exhilarating time as the exhibitions capture the cultural diversity that surrounds it.
Exhibitions will not be limited to artists from across Merseyside, although they will have priority. Exhibitions are now being planned to draw in work from national and internationally acclaimed artists.
Exhibiting in the gallery will be free of charge to artist, organisations and groups, as it aims to develop links across the community.
John Fillis, Managing Director of Capitalists of Culture Ltd said ,
“ This is a tremendous opportunity for us to create our own canvas, capturing and cultivating a growing communities thirst for expression, imagination and ambition.
That is why we are looking for inspiring local artists to lead the way, as they challenge the minds and soles of the viewing public. We really do want people to get in touch with us so we can begin to schedule the first season of shows.
