Music on the Waterfront kicks off the season on Friday 31st July, where a concert stage will be the centre of the action. With an exciting blend of local and international artists there will be musical delights for everyone. No need to book, just turn up and enjoy.
A concert stage at the north end of the Pier Head will be the centre of the action. Limited seating is available on a first come, first served basis and there is plenty of standing room for those who wish to dance along.
Food and drink will be on sale. As part of our commitment to reducing our impact on this site, please dispose of your litter responsibly. No glass containers should be brought on to the site.

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra & The Rightful Owners of the Song
The return of the acclaimed Liverpool ‘08 Commission featuring some of the City’s finest singers from the pub circuit, performing classic, popular songs accompanied by the Liverpool Phil, conducted by Greg Francis.
The sell-out premiere performance at Philharmonic Hall in November 2008 marked the culmination of a year-long project coordinated by musician Jonathan Raisin.
It explores the often forgotten tradition of Liverpool pub singing and the performers who entertain people in their local communities week in and week out, with skill, dedication and enthusiasm for their craft.

Listen to Africa
The waterfront will be awash with the sounds of Africa this weekend thanks to one of Liverpool’s best loved festivals. Africa Oyé will be showcasing the very best of its festival favorites with top of the bill superstar, Oumou Sangaré of Mali.Â
Oumou, who has just completed a sell-out European tour, shares the bill with an exciting young band from Senegal, ‘Groupe Lolou’, who impressed the many thousands at Oyé 2009 in Sefton Park back in June, and with that rarity, a band from Zimbabwe, who live their exile in Blackpool, the ‘Hohodza Band’.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Featuring some of Liverpool’s finest players and visiting international artists, Latin, Blues and Funk will be the sounds from the stage this lazy Sunday afternoon.
The Grapes Band will bring a party atmosphere to proceedings with their high energy mix of funky Latin-style brass and percussion, guaranteed to get heads nodding, feet tapping and hips swinging.
Lightnin’ Willie and the Poor Boys bring from their roots in Texas a seductive exchange of swinging Blues and R&B with a hint of rockabilly. A lively, interactive, face-to-face approach to their music generates massive levels of audience enjoyment.
Connie Lush is widely regarded as one of the finest blues singers that the United Kingdom has ever produced, having been voted Best UK Female Vocalist by readers of Blues In Britain for 5 separate years.
6ix Toys are the seven piece funk monster based in Liverpool. Rapidly growing a broad fan base from their festival and radio appearances, their self-titled debut album is out now on First Word Records.
Throughout Sunday afternoon there will be Samba performances at the south side of the Pier Head by Liverpool Carnival Company, and music and dance from young performance groups working with Brouhaha International.
