FUNDRAISING PARTY Help Us To Help You @ MELLO MELLO, Slater Street
SAT 04 AUG 2007
Hot on the heels of turning the Albert Dock into a bloody bomb site with our unique self-destructing exhibuiton ¡DEMOLITION! last month, we’re returning to what we do best: shock-ing and awe-ing with a rawkus evening and early morning of live entertainment. And cake.
LIVE: THE AMNESIACS (TBC) + TOM BROOKES
DJs: DIALOGUE DISCO SUPREME TEAM (HIVE) + DOUG KERR / TOM SHEPPARD (LATE NIGHT SESSIONS
HOSTS / POETICS: THE FICTION MASSIVE
Launching what will be a year-long run-up to our Biennial ’08 face-off between the five European ‘Cities on the Edge’, Help Us To Help You is a reminder of all that is good about the talent in our own city. Amen brother. Hosted by our performance wing Fiction (the city’s most compulsive and inventive collective – Metro), HUTHY will be a thrill-a-minute non-stop session of rotating spoken word slanging matches, DJ debauchery and live tunery from our favourite musicians and bands. If you manage to stop for breath Doug and Nathan Mercys will also be celebrating their impending birthdays by sharing with you ‘art-cakes’ and a small amount of free liquor.
Help Us To Help You is a fundraiser, to help us survive in the wake of the governments decision to spend all their loose change on a pointy logo for the Olympics, and the knock-on effect that had on the Arts Council jibbing us off over Demolition about two days before it started. Show your solidarity, power to the people!
