Liverpool dance company, Movema are launching a free accredited training programme for adults who are unemployed and out of education, based in the Liverpool City Region, supported by the European Social Fund.
The programme will be led by professional world dance and arts specialists, and has been developed with key sector partners and stakeholders to ensure the topics are relevant and fit for purpose with the goal of developing participants into further learning, completion of an accredited qualification, and/or employment.
Movema’s Co-Director, Ithalia Forel, said “We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity at such a crucial time of uncertainty, increasing unemployment and reaching out to BAME dance artists as a response to the Black Lives Matter Movement. Our goal is to provide opportunities and training to those who may experience barriers with their career progression within the dance sector.”

The programme has structured teacher led sessions, as well as on the job training and independent study hours for participants to attend free Movema dance classes, use Movema’s hot desk for tasks and develop their independent learning plan.
Movema are also working in partnership with Capoeria for All, Global Grooves and Milap; key arts organisations in the North West who share the same importance of accessibility and diversity for talent development and personal growth.

The course will cover the following topics personal development,Teaching Inclusive Dance, Dance Techniques, Choreography, Business Skills, Masterclasses on Indian and Afro Brazilian dance and culture (delivered by Global Grooves and Milap).
