Layla D’Angelo brings her latest work, from ‘La Flori’ Barcelona, to the The Florrie

New York born artist Layla D’Angelo brings an exhibition of her latest work Anyway…….Bernardino, from ‘La Flori’ Barcelona to the The Florrie Liverpool  from 2nd – 16th May 2017.

Elite collectors including Madonna, Cristian La Croix, Portia Kennaway, Rafaelo Amargo, Mario Testino, and Rossy de Palma have acquired D’Angelo’s work.

After achieving celebrity with her project Once Upon a Life in Polaroid, D’Angelo radically changed course and now specialises in making kinetic art and mobiles. The rotating and moveable elements are made of iron enamelled with nail polish that simulate precious gems like blue jasper and lapis lazuli, but also lunar craters and stellar scapes. The magnets allow each of the elements to be rearranged giving them innumerable possibilities of composition.

Layla D’Angelo is a tireless experimenter, impulsive and unpredictable. She is a cosmopolitan spirit, an artist from New York who’s lived in Rome, London, Madrid and is now settled in Barcelona. “D’Angelo is not a theorist or an academic. A Life devoted to creativity, beauty and pleasure has brought her art to the place it occupies today”. Layla D’Angelo – Anyway……Bernardino

Joann Kushner, Chair for the Culture Select Committee said: “yet again the Florrie are showcasing international participatory art exhibitions by world renowned artists direct into local communities. I’m excited to welcome Layla D’Angelo to the Florrie and to Liverpool.
