Artist, Illustrator and Animator Cath Garvey has been awarded one of the New Creatives North grants from BBC and Arts Council England. Her work has previously been commissioned for LightNight and Independents Biennial amongst others, but this latest commission highlights the importance of northern animators.
The latest film, Job Haunting looks at the struggles many artists face when they begin their careers, falling in to non-existent boxes and struggling to find the resources they need to support their job hunt.
“I wanted to make an animated short about job searching and being on benefits. It’s based on the struggles I went through myself coming out of University and needing to find work. My favourite part working on this film was recording the voices. Katie and Laura were brilliant to work with and really brought my characters to life!” Cath Garvey.
