BIG ISSUE IN THE NORTH TRUST GETS SNAP HAPPY
Photography enthusiasts in Manchester and Liverpool are being invited to take part in the Big Issue in the North Trust’s Photo Marathon challenge.
Photographers will have eight hours to take eight photographs, on two sets of four topics that are being kept secret until the day of the marathon, Saturday 2 July in Manchester and Saturday 16 July in Liverpool.
Entrants are being asked to make a donation of £15 to The Big Issue in the North Trust to enter the marathon which is being judged by professional photographers from the local area.
And top photography prizes include a two day photography workshop courtesy of Manchester Academy of Photography, alongside theatre tickets, art prints and more.
Big Issue in the North Trust Fundraiser Jane Logan said; “We ran the photo marathon for the first time last year and it was a great success – over 100 people took part raising £700 for The Big Issue in the North Trust.
“We’re looking forward to taking the Photo Marathon to Liverpool as well as Manchester this year. The event is about people demonstrating their sense of improvisation, fun and creativity and we hope that people will get involved and share their photography skills with us.”
The winning photos will be displayed on the Big Issue in the North website and will be printed in the magazine.
Volunteers will be stationed at the Deaf Institute (Manchester) and Studio 2 (Liverpool) on the days of the marathon, downloading photos as they are submitted. From 10am entrants have four hours to snap the first four topics before returning to base in person, where they must have an entry card stamped before receiving their next four topics at
2pm.
The photo Marathon will take place on Saturday 2 July from 10am – 7pm at the Deaf Institute, Manchester, and on Saturday 16 July from 10am – 6pm at Studio 2, Parr Street, Liverpool.
