dot-art announce sweep of summer art classes

dot-art have announced their spring / summer programme of creative courses in a range of iconic arts venues across Merseyside, all of which are COVID secure. Participant numbers are limited to allow everyone to feel comfortable keeping a safe distance, however, due to limited spaces early booking is essential.

All courses are suitable for beginners, but hurry, with reduced numbers, tickets are very limited. So get creative in inspiring venues, including The Reader, FACT and the Anglican Cathedral.

At FACT on Monday evenings the popular Drawing Techniques is hosted by tutor Sarah-Jane says, no matter what medium you enjoy using, be it paint, pastel or clay, learning the essential drawing techniques will magnify your creative ability. On Tuesday evenings, FACT will host a Life Drawing course, temporarily relocated from the Bluecoat. This course is for those who want to work directly from both the nude and clothed model and will develop your skills in life drawing, including accurate measuring, shading and drawing techniques.

The courses also include a return to Liverpool Cathedral on Saturday 3rd and 17th July for Sketching in the Anglican, a unique opportunity for both beginners and experienced artists to spend a morning drawing and learning new skills in this fascinating location.

Photowalks returns, starting from the dot-art Gallery in Queen Avenue, just off Castle Street, tutor Mark Reeves will lead small groups from the city’s historical business district to several key sites around Liverpool’s world-famous waterfront and landmarks, giving hints and tips on capturing the perfect photograph, whatever your camera. Choose from Sunday 6th June or 18th July.

dot-art Club for creative children has relocated to The Reader at Calderstones Mansion in South Liverpool. These sessions for 8-12 year olds run in six week blocks, with the next one starting 9th June and will take place from 4-5.30pm on Wednesdays. Every week, young artists will be encouraged to develop their drawing skills and build a lifelong love of art under the expert guidance of artist Brigitte Watkinson.

Also at The Reader, is the 10 week Tuesday evening course in Textile Arts, creating a range of nature based items using felting, stitching, sewing and printing. Tutor Catherine will also be running two 1 day workshops on consecutive Saturdays in Lino Cut: Beginners and Lino Cut: Intermediate which will introduce you to the materials and tools of lino cutting and printing before moving onto more in depth techniques on the second day.

Another 10 week course this term is Portrait Painting with Kathy Dereli, where you will learn from a variety of exercises and tuition the essential techniques used to create beautiful portraits.
