The year 2008 has been a special year for the Liverpool Chinese Community. During 2008 the Community joined the City’s year long celebrations as the European Capital of Culture and we also celebrated the success of the Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2009 we will see many of these successes go from strength to strength.

2009 is the Year of the Ox. The Ox is the sign of prosperity through courage and hard work. This powerful sign is a born leader, being quite dependable and possessing an innate ability to achieve great things. As one might guess, such people are dependable, calm, and modest. Like their animal namesake, the Ox is unswervingly patient, tireless in their work, and capable of enduring any amount of hardship without complaint. Such attributes are apparent to the characteristics of the residents in Liverpool.
