The Liverpool Culture Company is appealing to the region’s organisations to make this year’s 20/08 day celebrations the best yet.
Each year on 20 August – 20/08 – groups, organisations, and businesses across the region are encouraged to celebrate Liverpool’s Capital of Culture success by making an ‘offer’ for the day.
20/08 has been a highlight of Liverpool’s cultural calendar since 2003, when the National Wildflower Centre decided to provide free entrance on 20 August – 20/08 – to mark Liverpool’s Capital of Culture success. The Liverpool Culture Company decided to extend this idea and establish 20/08 as a yearly opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural life of the city.
Last year’s offers spanned the complete cultural spectrum – including free judo lessons for children, two-for-one dining, tours of historic buildings, hot air balloon rides and water sports tuition. From sports centres to swish city centre hotels, the whole region came together to give people a taste of Liverpool culture.
Groups, businesses, or organisations interested in putting on a special event or offering discounts on 20/08 this year just need to sign-up online by completing the 20/08 form.
Details of all offers will appear on www.liverpool08.com and in a 20/08 day brochure, which is distributed to venues across the region.
The deadline for offers is Friday 14 July 2006 so act now and help celebrate on 20/08!
