Liverpool’s annual Brazilica festival is back for 2014 and planning a bumper programme of samba carnival culture to celebrate what is a very exciting World Cup year for Brazil!
Organisers Liverpool Carnival Company will bring the scorching samba spectacular to Liverpool’s streets from 11-19 July leading up to the main carnival day on Saturday 19 July when a sparkling parade featuring samba bands and dancers from across the globe will bring sunshine to the city streets and a main stage in Liverpool’s Williamson Square will showcase the best Brazilian bands, surrounded by exciting Brazilian street food stalls, caipirinha bars and more.
In the week leading up to the main carnival day, a film and visual arts programme, the yearly Carnival Queen competition and a host of fringe events will keep Liverpool entertained, Rio-style.
This year, Brazilica is proud to be part of the official culture programme for Liverpool’sInternational Festival for Business.

Brazilica has always attracted visitors from far and wide as well as local people and we think being a part of this exciting and prestigious festival for the city will attract even more of a diverse audience for us and in turn showcase Liverpool’s eclectic cultural offering to visitors and delegates.”
In the run up to this year’s festival, Brazilica are also delighted to be linking up withLiverpool Sound City, the largest metropolitan music and arts festival in the UK, playing host to over 360 artists in 25 venues across the city in May.
At Liverpool Sound City, Brazilica will transform Wolstenholme Square (which is surrounded by Sound City gig venues) into an evening carnival area on Saturday 3 May, with dancers, drummers and more for festival goers to enjoy. Liverpool One’s Chavasse Park will play host to samba and football during the day on Saturday 3 May, with a Brazilica team participating in the John Peel world cup, also as part of Liverpool Sound City.
As in previous years, visitors to Light Night on Friday 16 May can also get a taster of Brazilica, with night time samba performances in Liverpool’s St Peter’s Square.
