31/01/07
Liverpool Biennial has announced the appointment of Paul Smith to the newly created post of Executive Director. Paul is currently the North West Regional Director of Arts & Business, a role he has held since 2002.
The organisation has achieved extraordinary growth in the last six years. As the second senior member of staff, Paul will lead the company’s development as a business to the level of success reached in its artistic programme. Lewis Biggs, the founding Chief Executive, will in consequence be able to give more time to art commissions and activity alongside his strategic role.
Commenting on Paul’s appointment Lewis Biggs said: “I am thrilled that Paul will be joining Liverpool Biennial’s team of committed staff. His career to date – with Arts & Business and as an arts marketer in Northern Ireland – has given a unique set of attributes as a manager and leader, while his personal enthusiasm for the arts and his strong network of contacts will open the door to a greatly enhanced future for the Company.
