BBC News – Award for cathedral’s Emin work.
Work at Liverpool Cathedral by the artist Tracey Emin has won an award for art in a religious place.
The pink neon “For You” work above the Merseyside cathedral’s great west doors was exhibited as part of the 2008 European Capital of Culture year.
It is written in Emin’s handwriting, with the words “I felt you and I knew you loved me”.
The Art and Christianity Enquiry (ACE) award highlights religious faith in art, design and architecture.
Liverpool Cathedral also received the first Liverpool Chamber of Commerce Arts Award for the work in 2008.
Canon Anthony Hawley said: “Liverpool Cathedral is delighted to have won this ACE award for a work which continues to offer all who come here the opportunity to contemplate the feeling of love, as well as bringing encouragement and provoking thought.”
