Arts Council England announces regular funding decisions for 2008-2011

The Arts Council today announced its ambitious vision for the future of the arts in England, including the investment of £1.3 billion between 2008 and 2011.

The strategy is designed to shape and support an arts sector committed to delivering excellent art to the widest range of people, and one empowered to take artistic risk.

The money will be invested in 888 arts organisations – including 81 new organisations. 753 (76%) of Arts Council regularly funded organisations received increases in their funding in line with, or above, inflation.

Among the biggest increases in funding are the Pallant House Gallery (South East + 110%) and the Roundhouse (our biggest increase in cash terms, + £400,000). Those receiving regular funding for the first time include the Barbican and Artichoke.
