Don’t worry, all those sandwiches (about 400 I think) are being donated at the end of the day. This is another quirky creation by David Hallangen-Lake who was commissioned by EAT to create this 1.3m sculpture of the Liver Building using only products from the store to publicise the opening of their new place in Liverpool ONE.
I was starting to feel really hungry as David was carefully carving the final Liver Bird out of cucumber.
David spent 24 hours on the building and said: “It was one of the more unusual requests we’ve had, but we love a challenge and thankfully I also have a background in cake decorating so we’re fully prepared for all eventualities.”
Faith MacArthur, co-founder and brand director, EAT. said: “This is the first time we have ever attempted anything like this. It’s ambitious but fun and we certainly pride ourselves on the fun and welcoming environment we create in our retail cafés.
“We wanted a way to show Liverpool that we’re really pleased to be here and what better way than recreating the city’s most famous landmark with our freshly made food – we’re very excited to see the final result.”
