Andrew Marr’s Strokes of Colour collection has just over half the exhibition left for sale

The Corke Gallery in Liverpool is delighted to announce that the Andrew Marr exhibition – Strokes of Colour which includes 108 original oil paintings by broadcaster and writer Andrew Marr has just over half the paintings left for sale – 49 have already gone.

Despite Andrew’s concerns that no one would come and no one would like the paintings let alone buy them we have had a tremendous response and visitors have come to see the exhibition from all over the UK and some have travelled from as far away as Switzerland and France to attend the Private Views. With online sales before the exhibition opened and sales over the last three weeks we now only have just over half the paintings left to sell before the show closes on Friday 21 July 2017. The paintings are all original, oil on canvas and range in price from £375 to £1,750 and most of the money raised will be going to charity.

Andrew is donating all his profits to the ARNI Stroke Rehabilitation Charity who helped him literally get back on his feet after his stroke in 2013 and everyone who has seen the exhibition has been amazed firstly by the amount of work Andrew has produced and secondly by how vibrant and colourful the show is.

Nic Corke, owner of the Corke Gallery and curator of the exhibition said “This is a unique opportunity to buy a wonderful, bright, joyful painting by Andrew Marr. At the private view Andrew described the paintings as his way of physically recording how good life can be and how important it is to seize the moment and celebrate the good things in life even when the outlook is bleak and challenging. The Corke Gallery in Liverpool is delighted to host this exhibition and we have endeavoured to keep all the cost down to a minimum to ensure the charity ARNI receives as much as possible. For visitors unable to purchase a painting we have produced a catalogue featuring all the paintings in the exhibition priced at £5 and £3 of this will go to ARNI.

All the paintings in the exhibition, except one painted in 2007, have been painted since 2014 when Andrew had recovered enough to stand and paint in his studio. He was determined after losing his ability to do physically active hobbies like running, swimming and cycling to continue to paint but in a totally different way that was more about expression and the joy and beauty of experiences and memories rather than the more traditional representational paintings he had previously painted.

The show continues until Friday 21 July 21 at the Corke Gallery in South Liverpool so any publicity you can give would be much appreciated. A press release is attached and you can view the online brochure at http://corke.net/am_catalogue.pdf which also shows which paintings are still available for sale
