SMART- A LEARNING DISABILITY COLLABORATION PROJECT.
Mixed media artwork created by adults with learning disabilities from four Wirral based organisations. The collection is created by participants as part of their Gateway Award, with the support of local artists.
The centre piece of the exhibition is the coming together of participants to create an art piece along the theme of friendship and collaboration.
This exhibition is funded by the Royal Mencap Society as part of the Gateway Beacon Project. This programme enables local learning disability organisations to work together, share best practice and collaborate for the benefit of the people they support. The ‘Beacon’ (Wirral Mencap) support the local ‘Role Model’ clubs (listed below) deliver the Gateway Award, which encourages people with a learning disability to explore their interests and skills in order to reach full potential and broaden their opportunities, allowing them to lead a fulfilled life.
