Garstang Festival Open Day 11 am – Playing with Ancient Greek
The Garstang Festival of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology is a celebration of the University of Liverpool Department and Garstang Museum past and present. For the first time, the Department is fully opening its doors to the public, giving people the opportunity to learn about and participate in the exciting research being carried out here within ACE.
Playing with Ancient Greek
Understanding ancient Greek is essential to studying the Classical past, but it can also be great fun for everyone. Join Serafina Nicolosi in an interactive seminar where you can hear about the origin of common English words from ancient Greek and learn the basics of this language such as how to write your name using the Greek alphabet.
This activity is suitable for ages 10+
Duration: 50 minutes
Please note that photographs and footage will be taken throughout Garstang Festival of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology. These will be used by the University for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media or any third party publication. Please contact the event organiser if you have any concerns or if you wish to be exempted from this activity.
