Artist Fran Cottell has been staging major interventions in her house since 2001. Physically creating new space, she reconfigured her own house temporarily for public access with platforms, holes in the ceiling, corridors and, most recently, removing windows. The social concerns of Fran’s House Projects have shifted between the relative values of order and disorder, one of the initial interests in the first project, to the relative status of the visitors and the inhabitants as reflected in the most recent house intervention Forced Entry 2017, (the fifth in the series), which increased the levels of separation and intrusion.
Fran will present the project with additional responses from family members who grew up with the project and contributions from Sarah Black. The House Projects have been presented as offsite projects for CGPLondon and 56 Artillery Lane, Raven Row, London.
