The Sefton coast is re-imagined in this exciting collaboration.
Southport-based artist Tony Heywood’s spontaneous collage-like painting technique is combined with Austrian artist Hannah Stippl’s unique use of floral antique rubber pattern-rollers.
Both artists are driven by a desire to find new ways to engage with and represent landscape and nature. In what could be described as the ‘spirit of interconnectivity’ Tony and Hannah decided to collaborate together to create a work that captured walking in the woods and shoreline of the Sefton coast.
The collaboration has resulted in a mammoth 9m long landscape painting. The fundamentally different working methods of the two artists proved to be an advantage to create a comprehensive, daring painting, narrating what both artists refer to as ‘The Spirit Of Place’.
