Digital light-based installation of work from the collaboration between photographer Tadhg Devlin and the SURF Dementia network group. This work forms part of recent Culture Shifts programme Life Beyond Diagnosis, a photography project seeking to break the stigma around dementia; looking beyond the condition to the lives of individuals.
The SURF project sought to champion how people with early onset dementia can live more independent lives and contribute to a better informed society. The series of photographs, created in collaboration with members of SURF, convey their experiences – often extremely difficult to describe in words – through powerful images.
The work has previously been shown as part of the Tate Exchange programme, and compiled into a newspaper format for wider distribution around Merseyside.
Exhibition Culture Shifts: Global, exploring the city and urbanism through outsiders’ eyes, is also open.
