This month for November In The Window we have two incredible makers that bring vibrancy and whimsy to the Display Centre through their work. John & Dawn Field and Janine Partington are co-exhibiting In The Window for the duration of November.
John and Dawn Field
Based in Yorkshire, John and Dawn Field are a creative partnership who have been designing, exhibiting, and selling contemporary jewellery in prestigious craft centers and art galleries across the UK since graduating. Over the years, they have developed a range of distinctive collections, working both collaboratively and individually to explore form, texture, and colour in metal and gemstone.
United by a shared passion for making and creativity, their work often embraces themes of asymmetry, contrast, and colour. In their signature Asymmetrical range, hand-designed stencils are rolled into silver to create subtle, tactile patterns. Rather than producing identical pairs, one earring might feature a vividly coloured gemstone while its partner incorporates a detail of warm brass — a celebration of difference and balance.
John’s individual pieces draw on the natural beauty of materials, his treatment of richly coloured stones and metals lending a timeless, often mystical quality to his work. Dawn’s fine art background brings a complementary sensibility, with her love of mark-making and colour evident throughout their collections.
Together, John and Dawn Field create jewellery that feels both contemporary and enduring — pieces that tell stories through texture, material, and the beauty of imperfection.
Janine Partington
Janine Partington explores the relationship between mark-making, colour, and surface through the carving and painting of leather and other materials. Her practice is grounded in simplicity — the visible hand of the maker is central to her work, revealing both process and presence.
Through ongoing experimentation with marks, composition, and layering, Janine seeks to develop a distinctive visual language within her chosen medium. Each piece is a dialogue between control and instinct, where form and colour evolve organically.
Working intuitively, Janine allows each mark to respond to the last, creating a rhythm and flow that guides her process. This instinctive approach enables her to move freely between dimensions — working on the wall, the table, or the floor — and to embrace the physicality and immediacy of making.
The resulting works are both tactile and contemplative, inviting the viewer to experience the beauty of surface, gesture, and the quiet narrative of the handmade.
Their display will be up until the 1st of December, do not miss their incredible work.
