Discover the last 100 years of collecting at Walker Art Gallery. In a post-war world, and against a background of great social change across Europe, art began to reflect stories of rival political groups and new ideas about how to live in the modern world. In contemporary collection, we reflect on the impact of empire and colonial histories and LGBTQ+ narratives – examining not only who has been featured in the art we show but also who is missing.

Head of Walker Art Gallery and Lead Curator of Fine Art, Charlotte Keenan McDonald, will discuss how recent acquisitions change the shape of the Walker Art Gallery collections.

Please meet in the Walker Art Gallery entrance at 1.45pm for a 2pm start.
