The Atkinson is a vibrant cultural hub for Sefton, offering an exciting and diverse destination for the local community, tourists, and arts enthusiasts. Its varied programmes focus on a museum, art gallery, theatre and library.
The Atkinson are seeking to recruit a Marketing Manager to lead the development and delivery of marketing, communications and audience development strategies for an ambitious cultural programme, overseeing integrated multi-channel campaigns that meet organisational objectives, strengthen The Atkinson’s profile, and maximise return on investment.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, self-motivated, and confident, with a relevant qualification. Experience in marketing, communications and audience development within the arts, heritage, or cultural sectors is essential.
You will be passionate about growing audiences and deepening engagement with arts and culture, helping to position The Atkinson as a regional arts centre of excellence. You will play a key role in achieving financial objectives and delivering ambitious audience development targets.
You will be an imaginative and strategic communicator, responsible for strengthening The Atkinson’s brand, profile, and reputation through compelling, targeted marketing and communications. You will champion The Atkinson and its integrated services, ensuring resources are used efficiently and effectively to deliver maximum value.
You will also work closely with our Corporate Communications and Engagement team to optimise the reach of The Atkinson and further strengthen its position as part of the wider Sefton family of services and brands, ensuring the core values of Sefton Council are presented and echoed through its marketing and communications with all stakeholders.

Salary: Grade G, SCP 20 – 25, £32,597 – £36,363 per annum (pay award pending)
Location: The Atkinson, Southport
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full Time
