CH41 Exhibition – Photographic Exhibition Celebrating Birkenhead

This show came about following on from a concept by photographer Michelle Wright
to reflect areas that often receive unfavourable press in a new light – to use the
creative medium of photography to find beauty and interest in our everyday
surroundings, to realise the creative spark within us all if we allow it to flourish. She
approached Wirral Spider Project to see if the photographic group would be
interested to work with this idea. Working closely with their tutor Andrew Millar – who
coached and supported the group to take photographs on this concept within the
CH41 surrounding area. Alongside photography Michelle is a Mersey based poet
who has run events, organised projects and open mic nights for many years now.
She is passionate about community interaction and involvement in all creative areas.
The photographers alongside Michelle and Andrew are as follows:

• Lisa Blackburn
• Steve Griffiths
• Alan

Barry Woods is a poet based in Birkenhead who has organised community projects
around the spoken word across Merseyside. He has set up and worked with Michelle
Wright on various projects which include The Quality Of Mersey, World In Lockdown
Poem, Poets For Peace and recently The Ages Anthology – which Roger Mcgough,
Brian Patten and John Gorman have contributed to. He is a strong advocate for a
positive representation of Birkenhead and its residents.
