Know Your Knowsley
Volunteer at Prescot Museum as part of our exciting new digitisation project
We are thrilled to announce Know your Knowsley, a brilliant new project at Prescot Museum thanks to The Sustainable Improvement Fund, a major part of the Museum Development North West Programme funded by Arts Council England.
Prescot Museum has thousands of photographs and postcards of people and places in Knowsley, but only a fraction of them have been digitised, so we need your help to do it!
We will give you training in using the equipment and software so you can learn how to digitise and document the collection and discover fascinating local history along the way.
If you are interested in local history, this is a great opportunity to go behind the scenes and find out how we look after our collection.
The Know Your Knowsley volunteering sessions will take place on Thursdays, with morning and afternoon slots available on the following dates:
Thursday 28 September
Thursday 5 October
Thursday 12 October
Thursday 19 October
Thursday 26 October
Thursday 2 November
Thursday 9 November
Thursday 16 November
Thursday 30 November

If you are interested in volunteering with Know Your Knowsley, please email galleries@knowsley.gov.
Find out how we look after precious documents and photographs at Prescot Museum and we’ll help you to preserve your own cherished items! We can scan photographs and documents for you on the day so you can share them with the rest of your family.
This event is to mark the launch of our exciting new Know Your Knowsley project, as detailed above. Bring along up to 10 photographs that are important to you and we will create high quality digital files from them.
Please note, if you are bringing items to be scanned, arrive before 2pm.
If you would like to get involved in the project and join us as a volunteer, come along to find out more.
