Wolstenholme – Interzone

7 – 22 March 2009, Opening hours Fri – Sun 12.00-18.00
In July 2008, the exhibition Façade was presented by Wolstenholme Projects at Gallery-33, Berlin. Now, in March 2009, the exchange between
the two venues comes full-circle as Interzone from Gallery-33 is exhibited in Liverpool.

In contrast to the approach taken in Façade, Interzone, does not aim to delve into inner psyches,
but rather examines nomenclature and systems of classification and categorisation.

The title of the exhibition is derived from the words international and zone, as the twelve
participating artists are based internationally. Interzone is a place replete with in-betweens and somewhere
that attempts to describe the arbitrary nature of labelling things and the set-up of our knowledge systems.

GALLERY-33 was founded in April 2006 by artist Christa-Mayke Turnbull, and offers emerging and mid-career artists the opportunity to exhibit in Berlin-Mitte.  The artists working with GALLERY-33 have diverse practices but all produce work that is innovative, exiting and often possessing a bleak sensibility.
