Colin Simpson, Principal Museums Officer, will tell us how he developed an interest in watercolour painting, and share with us how this interest informs his very personal relationship with of the Williamson’s watercolour collection. He will select some favourite pictures and discuss what he considers to be highlights from a huge collection. The collection was mostly put together in the 1920’s and 1930’s in attempt to compile a comprehensive spread of British watercolours and drawings, but it also boasts a good number of local artists’ works. Colin has made sustained efforts to maintain that same spirit and continue collecting for the future.
