Unity Theatre – Richmond Fellowship (Tracey Aston)

richmond-felloship-art-100Richmond Fellowship (Tracey Aston)
29 September – 31 October 2009

The work in this exhibition has been produced by individuals recovering their lives from the impact of mental health problems, and who use Richmond Fellowship’s Services.
Creating art is good for our mental health as numerous studies have shown. For people with mental health problems it can enable them to make sense of their experiences and to express their mental health and themselves.

Being creative can begin to restore self esteem and confidence, which is so often diminished when a mental health problem is diagnosed; it can give people a renewed sense of identity, a sense of achievement and it has also been shown that creating art can lead to people feeling calmer and more contented. Making Recovery Reality through art.
