The Gallery Liverpool: Familiarity Breeds Contempt by Frank Moore

unnamed5 September and 9 – 12 September 2014
11am – 4pm
This exhibition presents Frank’s most recent body of work, made up of a number of paintings exploring ideas around the familiar and the unfamiliar, and demonstrating a prevailing desire to reconcile the real with the unreal and the conscious with the sub-conscious. All work in the exhibition is for sale.Frank Moore is an artist based in Liverpool and currently practices his profession at his studio located close to Liverpool City Centre in the Baltic Triangle Creative Quarter. The concerns that are central to Moore’s work draw parallels between the visual language in contemporary art practice and art of the past, whilst endeavouring to bridge the gap between historical interpretations and modern interpretations of the world about us.Moore uses an image of an historical art work as a starting point, which is depicted in monochrome. He then develops the painting referring to theories, quotations and opinions from the past and present, adding colour and invented detail to the composition.

The human condition has remained a continual influence in Moore’s research, the critique of which is a key part of his working process.
