Everton Park: Everton Schools Pageant

26 June 2012

Hope Street, in association with Tate Liverpool and Youth and Play
Service present Everton Schools Pageant  – June 26th, 11.00 at The
View, Everton Park
Hope Street is delighted to be producing the Everton Schools Pageant
2012, a dynamic community event to be held on 26th June at The View in
Everton Park. This year, we have developed a partnership with Tate
Liverpool and the Youth and Play Service to create exciting
opportunities for schools around Everton Park and in the local area.

In the run up to the pageant we are working with 6 primary schools
including: Beacon, Faith, Gwladys Street, Kirkdale St Lawrence, St
Vincent de Paul, and Whitefield. Each school will enjoy two workshops
delivered by Hope Street in partnership with the Youth and Play
Service. Children will get creative, making banners and other art
works inspired by the Turner Monet Twombly Exhibition at Tate
Liverpool. Through fun and interactive sessions the children will
explore themes of regeneration and renewal through art.

To involve as many people as we can, classes in all the participating
schools will decorate leaves, to be hung on specially designed trees
on the day of the pageant. Once decorated these trees will be going on
an exhibition tour, popping up in exciting and unexpected places
around Liverpool throughout the summer, so the whole city can enjoy

On June 26th, as many as 350 children will join together for an
exciting finale event featuring a special performance by Hope Street
Ltd. As part of the celebrations, Notre Dame Catholic College will
lead all the schools in singing the Everton Park Song, which has been
created especially for the pageant. For an exciting finish we will be
planting a sapling in the park, which we hope will grow and thrive as
the children do.

Our team of Emerging Artists will all be getting involved in this
project, either delivering workshops in schools, designing and making
items for the event itself or devising and performing a piece made
especially for the occasion.
